Anastasia Akhvlediani

Anastasia Akhvlediani (b.1996) lives and works in Tbilisi, Georgia. Her paintings and soft sculptures portray figures and forms of varying creed and complexion. Montaging familial and semi-fictive stories, she looks at life’s mercurial melodramatics: motifs and their multiplicity, characters and their costumes, partial likenesses and the profundity of lacking parts.

In 2014-2018, she was enrolled at the Free University, Faculty of Visual Arts, Architecture and Design (VA[A]DS) in Tbilisi, where she was in the fine arts track, studying in the workshop of Thea Gvetadze and Levan Mindiashvili. In the framework of the 2021 Internationale Sommerakademie für Bildende Kunst Salzburg, she completed the Making Spatial Stories course taught by Rossella Biscotti. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including Everything, I promised myself (2021) at Fabrika, Tbilisi; the 2nd Tbilisi Architecture Biennial (2020); Tbilisi Online Biennial (2020), Nariman (2019), Obscura Workshops (2019), Abandoned Soviet School Building (2018), Us and Them (2017, Parallel Vienna). Selected residencies include In The Shadow of Big Trees, Tbilisi Photo Festival (2021), Slavs and Tatars (2019), and Jiwar Barcelona (2018).
