Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley

Overview

Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley is a British visual artist living and working in Berlin, Germany. She creates work that seeks to archive Black Trans experience. She uses technology to imagine Black Trans lives in environments that center their bodies – those living, those that have passed and those that have been forgotten. 

 

She has performed at the Barbican and Tate Museum, was a member of the Circa Art x Dazed Class of 2021, was named to the Apollo Magazine 40 under 40, and was selected as a member to Unfinished Camp, an alliance of global institutions including The Serpentine, HEK Basel, and The Shed NYC.
